Brisbane Tartan Day 2021 cancelled

Unfortunately, Tartan Day celebrations in Brisbane for 2021 – due to have been held on 24 July – have been cancelled.

Brisbane International Tartan Day president Ian Campbell issued a statement on Thursday 4 March 2021 to advise that the Australian Scottish Community Qld Inc was unsuccessful in obtaining the extra grant, putting them in a position where they cannot proceed.

“We will be applying again for the same grant for the 2022 Tartan Day as we have been advised to do so, as this year the grants were oversubscribed. Also due to the Covid 19 situation things are still uncertain until the full roll out of the vaccination is completed,” he said.

“We are committed to hold Tartan Day by the Brisbane City Council and look forward to a big year in July 2022.”
