Thank you to Alex McConnell

Last night saw the AGM of Pipe Bands Queensland take place at East Leagues Club. The committee was returned again for another year, barring one small change.

Alex McConnell has moved from being Secretary to the newly created role of Historian (Assistant Secretary).

Alex has been an outstanding member of the Queensland branch for nearly 3 decades, the last 20 as its Secretary. Alex’s contribution, and the support of his wonderful wife Desley, has been awesome to say the least, the real backbone of our organisation. We are forever grateful to you both for the hours and hours of work that you have provided our movement.

Alex’s work is not finished with the Branch, he has years of history to be digitally converted for everyone to access, so he will still be about, just not having to do the day to day.

Nicolette Cordell is our new Secretary after being Alex’s assistant for the past 4 years.

We now move into the 2023 competition season, and I look forward to seeing most of you in the coming months.

The committee thanks our members for the support over the past 12 months, and I look forward to hearing some great performances and the camaraderie that flows from that.
